In the Caribbean shores of Colombia, it converges the ancestral customs of African Art, music, dances, costumes, masks, decoration and cars. The Carnival of Barranquilla, oral and intangible heritage of the humanity, is one the greatest expressions of cultural and aesthetic richness. The popular parties have been a melting pot for the miscegenation: the magic-religious thought of the oral African remembrances is merged with art, establishing formulas of action for the communication of the contemporary culture. Through photography and critical texts, this book unveils the countenance rites of the carnival of Barranquilla. It combines the face and vestige, showing the cultural circumstances that converge in the territory. This constitutes the feature which synthetizes the condition of the Caribbean man.
