The documentary and therefore its script, does not propose a tailored reality, they neither manage nor determine tasks ahead. The documentary script wants to reproduce reality, presupposes it and accepts it as it is, including filming difficulties. Since the documentary script cannot foresee, for example, whether there will be enough light in set, or if the interviewer is linguistically articulated. This book is far from being a manual or a series of complicated tips, it rather presents a taxonomic path between the meanders of documentary films through their technical and theoretical perspectives, as well as their ethical obligations, engaging in a critical debate with leading exponents of non-fiction film such as Faherty, Vertov, Rouch or Rabiger. The reader will find tools to understand and analyze the development of non-fiction writing and an open door to stimulate the construction of documentary cinema.
