In the mid-20th century, separate sewage network systems began to be built to evacuate wastewater to treatment plants and rainwater to streams. Today, these urban hydro systems are under increasing pressure, as a result of climate change, environmental pollution, limited resources, and aging infrastructure, which have deteriorated them and make them increasingly prone to failure. This has had an impact on the service and, consequently, on the quality of life of the communities.
