A crisis cannot be resolved unless it is sufficiently addressed and understood. The scandal of abuse within the Church — of power, conscience. and sex — has reached a planetary scale and now accounts not only for individual sins and crimes, but above all for paradigms, systems, structures, and institutions that have facilitated abuse, concealment, and impunity. This text includes the testimony of victims and the reflection of many specialists. The situation of abuse in the Chilean Catholic Church is addressed from fields as diverse as theology, psychiatry, psychology, history, law, and education. It is a sorrowful and shameful journey, but there will be no healing without it.
