In this book we analyze the policies carried out for young people in conflict with criminal law in the context of confinement, specifically those that have to do with vocational education and training. To do this, we will take a tour around the transformations that have been carried out in Argentina, specifically, in the province of Buenos Aires, which gave rise to the passage from the doctrine of the irregular situation to that of promotion and protection of the rights of girls, boys and adolescents. Moreover, we will analyze the theory of human capital as a notion that supports the training actions that are carried out in the context of confinement. We will present empirical data on the socio-family profiles of the young people who are part of the institution of confinement and the operation of the training devices that are proposed. Finally, we will postulate five points that we believe are essential to reformulate the social policies for this social sector.
