Social Representations, Prejudice and Relations with Others. Building Social and Moral Knowledge

Representaciones sociales, prejuicio y relaciones con los otros. La construcción del conocimiento social y moral

People live immersed in a symbolically structured social environment that is taken for granted. It is conceived of in the same terms as the natural world and is only called into question when specific situations take place. However, this environment is a collective construction that, in the same way as it is transmitted, it can be rebuilt. Social Representations, Prejudice and Relations with Others is intended to narrow the relative bibliographical gap in Spanish on this issue as it gathers in one volume recent studies by different national and international figures. After a first section in which the theoretical frameworks and some concepts inherent in developmental and social psychology are examined, the texts analyze research works on representations of justice, politics, democracy, history and norms, as well as others concerning different forms of prejudice and discrimination. Furthermore, the authors propose a series of interventions to address complex phenomena such as gender inequality, hostility towards migrant children and, in general, any damage against others, particularly in school contexts.
