Based on the historical contribution made in the last quarter of the 20th century by national and North American researchers regarding the historical, cultural and architectural importance of the Camino Real de Tierra Adentro, that route also called Camino de Santa Fe –which during the viceregal period was the main communication route between Mexico City and the North of the country–, was registered on August 1st, 2010 as a new World Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). In the state of Aguascalientes, the sites included in the World Heritage List are Ex-Hacienda de Peñuelas, Ex-Hacienda de Cieneguilla, Aguascalientes Historical Center and Ex-Hacienda de Pabellón. The principal objective is to bring together a group of researchers who provide new and innovative knowledge about the Camino Real de Tierra Adentro in Aguascalientes, to rescue the history of this route through Aguascalientes, since it is part of the cultural heritage of humanity and has not been studied enough.
