Considered already a Social Sciences classic, The construction of the equality brings a pioneer study conducted by the anthropologist Edward MacRae, reviewed and increased with other articles that he has published during his research. Marked by the best anthropological traditions, combining the roles of observer and participant, the author analises the birth, the organization, the split and the faint of the homossexual movement in Brazil during the last years of military dictatorship. The book, that is still relevant to understand the protagonism at nowadays activism, sheds light over its common points with other brazilian social movements like the feminist and the black movements that inspired practices and ideas of activists in these first moments of political LGBT fight.
