This book contributes to the development of arguments designed to deconstruct this colonial logic, with its power to immobilize us and its tendency to foster the reproduction of colonial violence in the present day, expressed in practices that are racist and misogynistic and promote class violence and oppression, and all to the benefit of an elite who are increasingly immune to the suffering of the downtrodden. It is important to note that when I speak of a ‘testimonial turn in historical knowledge,’ I am referring to new sensibilities developed in this postcolonial context, in which the body and its place in the world have come to be recognized as part of the construction of different narratives and epistemologies.
