Second volume of a series dedicated to studying the effects of the health emergency in the educational field, and a co-edition between CLACSO and UNIPE: Editorial Universitaria. The pandemic fueled a massive migration by the education systems to a virtual environment. Concepts such as catastrophe, emergency, or crisis dominated the scenery. Beyond that, educators sought to sustain the connection with their students in different ways. In Ibero-America, a region composed by countries with asymmetrical realities, many new forms of inequality emerged in addition to the old ones and to those that social sciences were calling “the new ones” until recently.
This collective volume aims to highlight the most significant global trends, both in quantitative and qualitative terms, and to unravel the particular configurations and dynamics of educational systems in some of the region’s countries by considering a set of specific issues in those educational realities. Writing in the heat of the moment, as a way to put words to a perplexing situation, the authors engage in analyses and interpretations that try to show ruptures and continuities in what “building a school” means today, amidst a health emergency.
