This book gathers nine studies that offer a contemporary perspective on the meaning of translating and interpreting between Spanish and Peruvian native languages. The texts address the experiences of indigenous translators and interpreters, as well as the challenges and difficulties they face when translating legal discourse into their languages and mediating between the State and native peoples.
Traducir derechos, traducir culturas. Entre el castellano y las lenguas originarias del Perú, is aimed at both advanced Translation and Interpreting students and academics specialized in these areas, as well as sociolinguistics, linguistic anthropology and indigenous peoples’ rights. It provides the opportunity to recognize the social value of translation and interpreting and their close link to citizen rights.
