In the audiovisual universe, from movies to television and from television to internet, transformations occur at an ever-faster pace adapting to new contexts and testing initiatives and original projects. In this scenario, web series are a true example of the appearance of other audiovisual narratives. As any other new format, being a bit copied and a bit unparalleled, web series belong to an audiovisual consumption system that blows up with the development of streaming services, a phenomenon that increases the hours of audiovisual viewing and offers innovative narratives and production systems. Leonardo Murolo is a young and prestigious researcher who was born and trained at the National University of Quilmes and who is attentive to those continuous transformation scenarios. In the last few years, he has been interested in researching on the emergence of new screens and social media, and devoted himself thoroughly to write the history and concepts of the development of web series as a format and consumption in Argentina. His view on those communication fields does not elude the dimension of law and politics at the service of better democracies. “Series web en la Argentina” is the first book that explores this innovative subject, which realigns cultural consumption, discursive uses and narrative practices, and allows us to envision a new cultural industry. The systematization carried out in this book lays the foundation for future research.
