Women’s work: Pampean experiences of collective management at the dawn of the 21st century
Trabajo de mujeres: experiencias pampeanas de gestión colectiva en los albores del siglo XXI
This book analyzes experiences of collective labor management by women in the province of La Pampa. Its purpose is to contribute with empirical cases to the theoretical reflection on the process of heterogeneization of the contemporary world of work, from the overlapping between class and gender. For this purpose, the methodological strategy outlined does not distinguish the classic division between research and university extension, but articulates tools from both. Voices and practices of groups of women who faced the economic crisis and unemployment at the beginning of the century, through unconventional work modalities, are rescued. The design is a multiple case study focused on women users of microcredits with solidarity guarantees and cooperative workers, with the purpose of enriching the body of knowledge as regional examples of challenges to hegemonic models. The study shows the importance of work in women’s lives, both materially and symbolically, and the impact it has on their subjectivities.
