This work is the outcome of a group of researchers from the School of Forest Engineering and the Center for Research in Forestry Innovation of the Costa Rica Institute of Technology focusing on scientific research on the most commonly used forest species in commercial reforestation in Costa Rica. This scientific team has extensive experience in wood processing. To generate the information, the standards of the American Society for Materials Testing were applied. Its main objective is to introduce all technical information on 16 plantation species in regard to their industrial processing, which ranges from the cutting of the trees to their use in construction or furniture manufacturing, as well as the sawing, drying and preservation processes. In addition, it details the anatomical, physical, mechanical, energy and structural characteristics of the wood of these species. The book is comprised of 16 technical sheets whose information is generally organized in easy-to-read tables. Additionally, it is illustrated with photographs captured during the development of the research, as a visual sample of the main results obtained. It should be noted that the last technical record of the book is a comparison of all the characteristics and attributes of the species studied. The volume can be used as a general reference for personnel involved in forestry activities, wood production and industrialization, secondary wood industry, construction and marketing sectors and in general, by people interested in learning about the physical, mechanical and chemical properties of wood from different species used in reforestation in Costa Rica.
