
The Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador created the Center for Publications during the rectorship of Father Dr. Hernán Malo González, S.J., in 1974. It is structurally dependent on the General Academic Office and advises the Rector in regard to publications. For 42 years, it has diligently fulfilled its role while benefiting from the support of the entirety of the University’s academic departments and the intellectual capacity of its professors and researchers.The PUCE Center for Publications (CPPUCE) is the body in charge of publishing and disseminating the books and journals contained in the University's publishing catalog. It edits and promotes publications of an artistic, scientific, didactic, technical, religious and ethical nature, prepared by members of the University Community to ensure that PUCE, through its publications, communicates its Christian, academic, scientific, cultural and human values. VISION: The Center for Publications will fortify its work by amplifying its editorial scope through co-publications with other national and international institutions, and will carry out activities to support PUCE's publishing duties. FUNCTIONS: To centralize the academic and cultural publications produced at PUCE by receiving requests from different academic departments, research and study groups, and profesors and students at PUCE; or from other educational, scientific or cultural institutions with which PUCE maintains or has signed special co-publishing agreements through the Provincial Branches of the PUCE National System (SINAPUCE). Also, to monitor and verify compliance with PUCE’s publication policies. To prepare accounting for PUCE-produced publications as part of the accounting system. To offer technical services and editorial advice to members of the university community who request it, in particular to the authors and editors of books and journals. To publish, promote, distribute and market PUCE's scientific and cultural publishing products. To organize book fairs and book presentations. To encourage and manage publishing agreements with national and international institutions in order to develop joint projects.
